The Commercial Observer covers Design Republic’s role in designing the roof and lobby for Kaufman Organization’s 155 West 23rd Street.

The Kaufman Organization wanted to bring a piece of the exterior into the interior for this multi-tenant, boutique lobby. The space creates a surreal and artistic environment for those that pass through, serving as a whimsical “other worldly” transition between the work and exterior environment.

The lighting fixture in the lobby mimics a skylight, giving the psychological benefits of natural light to the space.

“It’s the idea of differentiating yourself from the pack,” Greenspan said. “So when [people] come into the building, they have the experience of the ‘wow’ factor in the lobby.”
