Step into the storied past of this former New York City piano factory, now reimagined as a refined industrial workplace that honors its historic roots. Design Republic drew inspiration from the building’s manufacturing legacy, restoring original factory floors and repurposing the rich wood planks within the new elevator cabs. Bespoke hot-rolled steel wall panels—finished in a graphite-blue patina and detailed with exposed rivets—create a striking contrast against the time-worn textures, while blackened mirrored ceilings offer a moody, reflective interplay.

The lobby serves as both a tribute to the building’s industrial history and a canvas for contemporary art. Behind an architectural steel-and-glass feature wall, twin New York-based graffiti artists How and Nosm were commissioned to bring a vibrant jolt of color with a custom mural. The reception desk, constructed of gunmetal and charred wood, is grounded beneath a Holly Hunt pulley pendant—an elegant nod to the building’s mechanical past. Furnishings such as military canvas benches and leather lounge chairs complete the space with tactile, utilitarian charm.

Above, a rare rooftop terrace offers panoramic views of the Hudson River and a verdant escape from the city’s pace. Designed as a flexible outdoor retreat, the terrace features lush concrete planters, soft lounging lawns, and a variety of seating options to accommodate solo reflection or collaborative gatherings. From bistro tables to communal lounges, this green rooftop oasis provides the perfect backdrop for creative recharge and everyday connection.
