Design Republic designed the new Brooklyn office for ?What If! Innovation, a business consultancy focused on helping clients build future-forward brands, products, and services. Located in Industry City, the new space reflects the firm’s creative ethos while preserving elements from their previous Manhattan office—such as key visual artifacts and company “mascots”—to maintain continuity. The design embraces the building’s industrial character, retaining original wood floors with historic paint markings and repurposed steel doors. Custom metal office fronts fabricated by a nearby shop and wall coverings from local vendor Flavor Paper reinforce a strong connection to the surrounding neighborhood.

The unassigned seating plan supports flexibility and creative freedom, with a range of work zones including open desking, lounges, and enclosed meeting spaces. A standout breakout area is framed by large garage doors, allowing it to convert from an informal workspace to an all-hands meeting zone. Writable and pin-able wall surfaces encourage constant ideation, while integrated greenery softens the industrial materials and helps define zones within the open layout. The result is a dynamic, adaptive workspace that supports the evolving needs of an innovation-driven team.
