Fendi, the legendary Italian fashion house, known globally for its furs and handbags, moved its New York flagship from Fifth to the corner of Madison Avenue along New York’s 57th Street luxury retail corridor. The 8,000 SF space is a distillation of both Fendi’s luxurious past and future, rendered in materials that are as unique as they are meaningful to the Fendi brand.

The flagship’s façade is striking: obviously Italian and unmistakably Fendi. The travertine marble was mined and cut in Italy, and the arched entryway and two massive columns evoke Fendi’s Roman origin. Inside, the brand’s story is again told through thoughtful and incredible materials. It’s bespoke interior adorned with unique fabrications and finishes. The staircase, with its balustrade of Brazilian rosewood veneer, stair treads made from slabs of petrified wood––the irregular textures a reference to fur, Fendi’s best-known product––and handrails wrapped in chestnut-brown leather, is the centerpiece.
