Every project begins with a deep respect for context—and for Lacoste’s New York flagship, the building’s rich architectural heritage played a central role. Located within a landmarked 1930 Art Deco structure on Fifth Avenue, the three-level space demanded a design that would both honor and reinterpret its storied framework.

To celebrate the building’s original bones, Design Republic organized the interior around a dramatic feature staircase. Engineered as a series of cantilevered planes along a central spine, this sculptural element grounds the space without overpowering it. By maintaining an open and transparent perimeter, the design invites natural light and views deep into the store, emphasizing vertical movement and visual clarity.

Lacoste’s brand identity is woven seamlessly into the architecture. A leather-wrapped handrail evokes the grip of a tennis racket, while suspended mesh panels reference the iconic pique texture of the signature polo shirt. Playful yet refined, the crocodile emblem finds its way into embossed wall coverings and custom pendant lights—quiet nods to a brand defined by its enduring legacy.
