The News Transformation Project is a multi-phase transformation of the news environments on multiple floors within 30 Rockefeller Plaza. The main program areas included within in the design are: the “Town Square”, the Newsroom “HUB”, “Nightly News”, News executive office space, “Decision Desk”, and a new Convenience stair. The interior design aesthetic, as a result of the well received concept design, was ‘honesty in architecture’ to mirror the need for ‘honesty in news story telling’. The architecture sought to expose brickwork and plate riveted steel columns not seen since the buildings construction in 1933. These original features were contrasted to ‘state of the art’ technology, scenic elements and workspace to create a one of a kind environment which the news operation absolutely loves. While the first phase is complete, subsequent phases are underway to realize this amazing news environment.
