At the heart of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, Design Republic reimagined two legacy spaces into a singular destination for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon—a sophisticated fusion of performance, history, and innovation. NBC, Lorne Michaels, and Jimmy Fallon entrusted the firm to craft a modern late-night studio that honors the show’s Broadway roots while meeting the technical and experiential demands of a contemporary broadcast production.

The studio design presents a refined reinterpretation of traditional proscenium theaters with a semicircular main stage and a sculptural cityscape backdrop, developed in close collaboration with the show’s scenic team. Opposite the host’s stage, a band platform energizes the space, both oriented toward a dramatically expanded audience seating area that enhances intimacy and visibility. Inspired by the show's dynamic format, every element—from the curated finishes to acoustically enhanced surfaces—was designed to amplify performance and audience engagement.

Beyond the studio, Design Republic also led the architectural renovation of key broadcast infrastructure, including a new state-of-the-art control room and reimagined audience arrival areas. This $5 million transformation not only restored the show to its original home at Studio 6B—once occupied by Johnny Carson and Jack Paar—but positioned it for the future with expanded seating for 240 guests and a reinvigorated presence in Midtown Manhattan. The success of this landmark project deepened the firm’s ongoing relationship with NBC, leading to additional commissions across 30 Rock, including studios for Seth Meyers and Meredith Vieira.
