Printemps, the iconic French luxury retailer, has debuted its first U.S. location within the landmark One Wall Street building in New York’s Financial District. Designed by Paris-based architect Laura Gonzalez, with Design Republic serving as Architect of Record, the 55,000-square-foot, two-level flagship reimagines the spirit of a Parisian apartment, marrying traditional European craftsmanship with contemporary New York energy.

Design Republic was instrumental in securing interior landmark designation for the historic Red Room through the Landmarks Preservation Commission, ensuring the preservation of this defining Art Deco feature. Entry is through the building’s original bronze doors, leading to a richly layered interior that reflects both Printemps’ storied heritage and the architectural significance of its new home.

Seven distinct shopping environments unfold across the space, each designed as a curated, multi-brand salon featuring bespoke finishes and custom furnishings. The Red Room, a centerpiece of the store, houses the dramatic “shoe forest”—a sculptural display framed by red ombré and gold mosaics, gilded metalwork, and original revolving glass doors that open directly onto Wall Street.

A sweeping pink marble staircase links the upper-level Boudoir to the Red Room Bar below, which is wrapped in deep red jasper marble and framed with intricate stained glass. A palette of refined materials—hand-laid terrazzo, lacquered wood, velvet upholstery, and custom brass fixtures—elevates the sensory experience at every turn.

Printemps at One Wall Street introduces a new paradigm for luxury retail in New York, balancing historic preservation with expressive modern design. The result is an immersive, theatrical environment that redefines the boundaries between fashion, architecture, and cultural legacy.
